Our
Sunday School is currently being restructured.
After
62 years of dedicated service between them our Sunday school superintendents,
Valerie and Alan Theobald retired on Palm Sunday.
It was a moving
service when the congregation included many present and former members of
the Sunday School who had benefited from the teaching of Alan and Valerie
Theobald and their daughter Ann Wegg. It was also attended by the former
rector, The Rev’d. Canon Christopher Sansbury.
Presentations were
made to them by both past and current members. A framed ‘Certificate of
Appreciation’ was also presented to them that read,
“On behalf
of generations of children in Long Melford this certificate is presented
to Alan and Valerie Theobald in recognition of their many years of service
to this parish by leading the Sunday School for 26 years in the case of
Valerie and 36 years for Alan. This is presented with grateful thanks of
past and present clergy, children and their parents and members of the
congregations over these years.”
