RECITAL 13TH JULY 1.10pm

Gill Gerrard  oboe

Mary Blanchard                    piano

 & Rhianwen Gold    violin

Gill, Mary and Rhianwen are three friends and colleagues who perform in various orchestras together and have formed this trio to present some lovely and underperformed pieces.

Gill Gerrard started her musical studies on the Piano, taking up the Oboe a few years later. She studied Oboe and Cor Anglais at the Trinity College London under Anthony Camden and Stephen Nagy. As a professional oboist she worked as a freelance player in many orchestras and was a founder member of the Calumus Oboe Trio which worked extensively in London and the surrounding areas. Today Gillian divides her time between teaching and as an oboist and Cor Anglais player for many orchestras and chamber ensembles across East Anglia.

Mary Blanchard studied Flute with Duke Dobing at the Colchester Institute and is a sought after soloist and regular player in several orchestras across the Eastern Counties. She has an extensive practice teaching flute and piano in the North Essex area and is a member of the Kaleidoscope Ensemble.

Rhianwen Gold. Rhianwens love of playing the violin began in her youth when she performed with various orchestras including Welsh National Opera and the National Youth Orchestra of Wales under the tutorage of Nona Liddell, Elgar Howarth and Christopher Adey.

She went on to read music, specialising in performance, at Royal Holloway University of London where she led the Royal Holloway Chamber Orchestra and other ensembles, performed as a soloist, and was fortunate to work with John Woolrich, Thomas Ades and Emanuel Hurwitz.

After graduating, Rhianwen enjoyed several years as an upper strings teacher and orchestral tutor for Merthyr Tydfil and Norfolk County Music services.  Now based in Suffolk and North Essex Rhianwen is a freelance violinist and violin teacher. She leads the Colne Philharmonic Orchestra and has a busy schedule playing with local orchestras, choirs and chamber ensembles which she enjoys enormously.
